A Prayer, A Principal, and You!

Good Shepherd SLF was created five years ago as a cross-cultural partnership with Good Shepherd Academy Association (GSAA) in Cameroon.

Such partnerships with developing nations are challenging for many reasons. When we began this journey together in faith, we knew the road would not be an easy one. We also knew that the difficulties we would encounter along the way are what makes this partnership such a vital one.

On October 7th, Cameroon will hold a Presidential Election. Like many African countries, they are experiencing heightened civil unrest prior to the election.

cameroon electionsIf you pray, meditate, or commune with the Holy Other in any way, we ask you to join us in prayer for Cameroon. It is further hoped that after the election, much-needed dialogue will commence regarding the Anglophone/Francophone conflict that will lead to more equitable treatment for our English-speaking Cameroonian neighbors.

In the meantime, the GSA campus and staff are being readied for school to open post election. Joseph Tangye Ambe has been hired to serve as Principal of Good Shepherd Academy. With thirty years experience as a secondary/high school principal who received the Press Award for Best Principal in the Northwest Region for four years, he is an ideal leader for our young school.

PrincipalMr. Tangye holds a degree in banking from Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, Nigeria with Post Graduate Work in Management Science at the University of Douala in Cameroon.

He has also trained at the Aharon Ofri International Center in Israel. In addition to his administrative duties at GSA, he will teach economics and accounting.

Please join us in welcoming Mr. Tangye to the Good Shepherd Family!

You have been with us each step of the way in fulfilling the dream of Sister Jane Mankaa to educate her Cameroonian children. Together, our success in just five short years has exceeded all our expectations. We are truly grateful for your continued support and presence.
