Great news! In December 2015, Congress passed a law allowing the donation of annual required IRA distributions as early as January of a given year. Right now, anyone over the age of 70 1/2 can choose to donate their Required Minimum Distribution and any amount up to $100,000 to the charities of their choice.
By using IRA funds in this manner you accomplish two goals; one is that these amounts are not subject to an income tax at all and secondly, you can make a significant difference to the charities you support.
As you plan your distributions with your broker or financial manager, include Good Shepherd SLF on your list of beneficiaries! What better way to give? As we continue with Phase 2 construction of Good Shepherd Academy in Cameroon, we are very aware that education yields a larger impact than any other form of help or aid we can give to improving health, raising income, promoting gender equality, and reducing overall poverty.
Gifts made directly from your IRA will not only benefit your tax status, but will also assure our continued progress in providing the children of Cameroon, West Africa with a much-needed secondary education. Just use the sample letter below.
Their Dream. Our Mission. You Are Making It Happen, as we move forward together into a new year filled with promise and hope!
